"That the magazine is music related,."

"That the bands inside are really good,as the front cover shows'

2. What genre/type of music does the magazine focus on and how do you know this?

' It does not say a specific genre but we know it is music related as there is a caption saying 'Exclusive interview with one of the hottest girl groups around'

3. What makes the pages look professional and what stops them from looking professional?

"The layout of the magazine makes it look professional."

"Keeping to a certain colour scheme would have made it look more professional, then again, lots of different colours make it different to magazines you usually see. "

"The photographs are good which makes it look professional."

4. How realistic does the front cover seem?
"Looks quite genuine due to the layout."

"Very realistic."

"The fact that a barcode, date, issue number etc are included makes it look genuine."
"Looks quite realistic due to the layout."

5. Does the contents page simply inform or does it also manage to interest you in reading the rest of the magazine?
"It informs but it also interests me to read the rest of it because it has included images."
"It manages to inform me and interest me to read on."

"It includes a short line about whats included so it interests me to read on."

6. Does the article sound like a piece of journalism? if not what bits do not sound right?

"Yes it does, it sounds like someone has actually interviewed a celebrity."

"Some things could be changed to ensure it sounds 100% journalistic, but overall it's really good."

7. Does the article layout make you want to read it? if not why not?

"Yes because it's in different paragraphs for different questions so you know which parts are which are its easily readable."

"The layout is good, the colours make it look more attractive and the use of image do the same.

"Yes, because after reading the text grab on the picture, it makes you want to know who he's talking about."

Analysis of contents page

This contents page is limited with 4 colours, Gold, Black, Red and white. The Gold is used entirely on the magazine’s name – ‘’ICONS’’ Perhaps this is trying to establish the importance of the word and the magazine, because Gold is a highly favoured colour often associated with Wealth and Fame. Red is used alongside black most of the time on this contents page, most probably because the colour blends very well with one another. The numbers are coloured red and alongside the contents of what is in each page which is in black. The Title of the page is not very dominant, but it is clear that this is a contents page. The word Contents is cleverly translated in to the words ‘’Departments’’ Showing how different this magazine is. The term ‘’Departments’’ is often used in clothing shops. So therefore the title ‘’Departments’’ further implies the associated of the magazine to ‘’fashion and Lifestyle’’ and the contents of the magazine. The words ‘‘Premiere Issue’’ also implies that this issue of the magazine is important. White text is used at the top with a thick black bar behind to support the colouring of the white text. The text ‘’CLASSIC HOLLYWOOD STARS & LIFESTYLES’’ also shows what the contents of the magazine is. The model on the right hand side of this contents page seems to be very fashionable, with also white and black clothing to go along with the theme of the page. Her positioning works very well with the page, because they have been able to use clever ideas such as under her arm which is holding the umbrella. ‘’WHO’S YOUR INFLUENCE?’’ with the number page on it. Clearly the woman may be some sort of influence upon people, and the magazine questions the readers.

This magazine article has been done on the group 'Muse'. The use of colour in this article helps the text stand out more so the reader will be more tempted to read it.
The article has a number of pictures of the group to show the reader what the group are like, and what type of image they want to portray,

Research and planning

This is an image of the band N-Dubz.  They are styled to help show the genre of music they produce. For the men hoodies, and hats, they are also position in a Gangsta style pose. Tulusa the girl is wearing a purple corset top and skirt. This helps show off her figure.
If you look closely at the background it has been made to look like there is broken fencing behind them and sky scrapers in the background.  By having this as a background it helps to represent the type of music they produce and where abouts they come from.

I created a magazine questionnaire to give out to people for them to fill in, I used the answers I got to adjust my magazine accordingly.

Overall, I think that the questionnaire was a good idea because it has helped me to decide what kind of features I will include in my magazine.

Fonts

FONT ONE

FONT TWO

FONT     THREE

Font four

I chose four fonts and then chose which one I wanted to use for my magazine. I decided that font one would look the best because it is a simple one and also looks like it is the best to be associated with a music magazine.
I wanted to experiment using photoshop before i used my own pictures. So i got a picture from the internet and had a go at editing it.

Feedback 9.2.10

Sarah, you need to ensure you arepublishing your post regularly. You also need to be spending a lot of time in your free periods and some time each evening working on this. Lesson time is not long enough to produce a good piece of coursework in this subject.

You need to complete the research and planning by haf term and return after the holidays with a rough draft of the feature article and all your photos ready to be edited. After half term you will no longer be given lesson time to work on the blog and you will be posting a progress report weekly from home.

You need to complete the audience research and sumary of your findings next. Try to display some of the data in charts etc. Analyse the data and say how you will use this information to inform your design choices. See me in lesson if you need any further explanation.

Mrs A
I designed this contents page to show what is going to be inside the magazine. I put a selection of picture boxes to give the reader and inside look.

Anaylsis of front cover (preliminary)

In my preliminary task we had to design magazine cover for a music magazine for college. We had to take a medium shot of a pupil and use them for the cover of the magazine. We had to have the proper layout of a magazine. Header, sub headings and anything else that is in the magazine.
To improve my front cover i could choose more effective bold colours to give the magazine a younger, fresher look. Another way of improving the front cover is to have a more exciting back round to make the magazine more appealing to the eye. There could be more exciting headings.
I need colours that reflect the genre's of music not the age group. Using a variety of fonts on the cover to make it more visually interesting and eye catching

My initial Thoughts And Ideas 11.11.09

My initial thoughts and ideas were to create a music magazine that covered the genres of mainly dance with a hybrid of pop. So the magazine applies to more than one group of people.
I plan to aim this magazine at ages 14-22. Having the magazine aimed at these ages does not limit any thing . It gives a wider range of people being  interested in the magazine.
The magazine will cover topics such as, celebrities, fashion, other music charts and new movie interview also on the centre piece would be an interview from a celebrity on what has been going on in there life.
